Have you heard the Good News?
In a world where there is so much bad news it is refreshing to hear some Good News; isn’t it?
It is unfortunate that people do not want to listen to the Good News. The Good News is “whoever believes in Jesus Christ has eternal life… the bad news is that whoever does not obey Jesus Christ shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (John 3:36)
So! What exactly should we believe about Jesus Christ to escape the wrath of God?
We find a summary of the Good News in the Bible where the writer said: “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel (Good News) I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
There’re three things: 1. Jesus died for our sins, 2. He was buried and 3. He rose on the third day victorious over sin and death.
There’re three things: 1. He paid the penalty for our sin, so the wrath of God would not have to come down on us. 2. He became a substitute for our sin; which means that the penalty for our sin was paid in full. 3. He can now forgive everyone who believe in Him.
There’re three things: 1. Only if we believe in Jesus can He forgive us our sins. 2. Only if we believe in Jesus can we be reconciled to God. 3. Only if we believe in Jesus do we have the privilege to go to heaven.
There is one more thing that we must understand about the Good News. When we believe what Jesus did on our behalf, it will move us to repentance. Repentance means two things: 1. We acknowledge that we sinned against God. 2. We turn away from our sin and we start doing what God wants us to do.
The cornerstone; the foundation of the Good News is the fact that Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again on the third day. Someone once asked a preacher if he could put into a few words what his Christian faith was all about. He said, “I will put it in four words for you: Christ died for me.” It’s as simple as that. Christ died for me. That is the essence of the Good News.
The Bible says that whosoever call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. The Bible also tells us that, if we seek the Lord Jesus, we shall find Him. Wouldn’t you call on Him right now? Wouldn’t you cry out and ask Him to forgive your sins and say with your mouth that you believe that Jesus died for your sins?
Please don’t delay calling on Him! Please don’t delay confessing your sins to Him and placing your complete trust in the only One who can save you from the penalty and power of sin and give you eternal life! His Name Is Jesus Christ Of Nazareth… This is truly GOOD NEWS!
